When we have anxiety or a fear of doing something, we often spend more time thinking about the “what if” scenarios—creating more anxiety than just taking action to get over said fear.
What have you been putting off for years because of fear? Is it getting in the way of you achieving your goals and dreams? Many people suffering from fears and phobias have experienced an impact in their personal and professional lives. The good news is, you’re not alone. The even better news is that there’s something you can do about it.
Here are some examples of celebrities who had to overcome their fears so that they could be in the position they are today.
It may be hard to believe, but Richard Branson once had a fear of public speaking! To overcome this fear, he spent years practicing and writing speeches. Fast forward to the present day, and Branson now conducts speaking presentations on overcoming the fear of public speaking.
At one point, Donnie Osmond found himself with a fear of shopping malls and the people in them. He suffered from anxiety thinking about what people were thinking about him and potentially laughing at him! When he started working with a psychologist, he took baby steps to overcome his fears. For example, one day, he would go to the mall to buy a shirt. The next day he would have to go back to the mall to return it.
Recently Sarah Blakely, Inventor of SPANX, shared on her social media that she signed up for a “Fear of Flying” class when she was younger to help get over her fear. Ironically she missed the class every time because she was busy flying! Long story short—face your fears!
